Electric scooters have rolled into our lives recently, but they have already gained popularity. In a little while, two-wheelers will compete with serious transport, if they acquire greater autonomy.
The Segway-Ninebot company tried to solve this problem by giving the scooter a powerful battery. And since it does, the power reserve should be enough for winter rides. Let’s test the KickScooter MAX G30P in cold conditions, as it became one of the best electric scooters.
First steps before the ride
It takes no more than five minutes to assemble the scooter. You just need to insert the handlebar into the stand and fasten both parts with six bolts. The kick scooter frame is made of aviation aluminum, the battery and the electric motor are protected against moisture according to the IPX5 standard.
Note that the speed limits of the gadget are set by default. To remove them, you need to create an account in the proprietary application Segway-Ninebot, link transport to an account, and watch a video tutorial.
The main screen of the program displays total mileage, route records regarding the location, the remaining charge in a percentage and kilometers. It also changes the regeneration level, activates cruise control, and updates the software.
The real heavyweight
The process of folding is the same as in electric scooters of other famous brands. The first thing we do is to take the safety hook out of the groove, unbend the metal lock, tilt the handlebar along the body and hook the carabiner to the rear wing.
The construction feels reliable, no squeaks or backlashes were noticed during the test. The thick footrest securely holds the Segway Ninebot KickScooter MAX G30P.
The scooter weighs almost 20 kilograms, so it is difficult to carry in your hands, especially in passages with stairs. It is better to plan a route without using public transport.
How to ride Segway Ninebot
All controls are concentrated on the steering wheel: on the right – gas, on the left – the brake arm and a mechanical bell. The on-board computer display is placed in the center. At the top of the screen displayed the current speed, then the driving modes and various indicators such as Bluetooth, headlight, blocking, overheating and malfunctions.
At the very bottom is displayed the battery level, which consists of five bars. There is one multi-function button on the kick scooter. Holding it will turn the device on/off, a short press will activate the front light, and a double press will select the riding mode.

The rear-wheel drive minimizes the amount of slippage with good traction, but during acceleration on ice, there is a great risk of uncomplicated drifting. The design can hold up to 100 kilograms of weight, thanks to the wide deck it is comfortable to stand on KickScooter MAX with two feet.
There are three operating modes: economy – the device accelerates to 15 km/h, standard – to 25 km/h, sport – up to 30 km/h. These values are relevant for driving on the plains, while it was possible to reach almost 36 km/h from the hill.
The wheels here are ten-inch, pneumatic type. We were pleased with the excellent smoothness of motion even with slightly hardened rubber – the joints of the tiles and other small irregularities of the road surface are practically not felt. The long fenders perfectly protect against dirt and splashes at high speeds.
The manufacturer has taken care of the driver’s safety. Electric propulsion is possible only after reaching 3 km/h (just push it with your foot). In the dark, a bright LED headlight will illuminate the way, and the rear brake light will alert other road users of your presence on the road.
The vehicle is equipped with a dual braking system: the front brake is the drum and the rear brake is regenerative, with the help of an electric motor. If you need to brake quickly, the two-wheeler stops like a skid. Moreover, it is equipped with the E-ABS system, which prevents the rear wheel from locking when braking, which is especially noticeable and useful on ice or water.
The main feature of the Segway Ninebot MAX is the large 15000 mAh battery. To put a battery of such capacity, the vendor had to depart from the usual way of battery placing in the steering rack. Now it is installed in the deck. This decision seriously reduced the ground clearance, therefore, while driving, every now and then you touch the ramps with the lower part, small curbs, and lying policemen.
The power supply is now integrated into the body of the electric scooter. On the one hand, you do not need to search for a place in the backpack for charging, on the other hand – the solution increases the already considerable weight of the kick-scooter.
Autonomy of two-wheeled device was tested at -7 degrees, with activated sport mode (gas almost always at full throttle) and with an 80-kilograms rider at the wheel. The manufacturer promises a range of 65 kilometers. It is clear that the designers got such a result in ideal conditions, by analogy with the passport fuel consumption of cars.
In fact, the gadget drove 30 kilometers and 400 meters. But it should be taken into account that in the cold lithium-ion batteries hold their charge 20% worse on average. So, in the warm season, in the “don’t deny yourself anything” mode, you can safely count on 35-40 km of mileage without sockets.
From 0 to 100% Segway Ninebot KickScooter MAX has time to recharge in 6 hours. Connectors for charging (220V and 42V) are located on the side of the deck. They are covered with a sealed rubber plug, so you don’t have to worry about driving through puddles.
The KickScooter MAX G30P is fast, safe & soft on the move. The manufacturer has seriously worked on the autonomy of the novelty, though to the detriment of the lightness of design. On a single charge, the scooter can travel twice as far as the average competitor. If your work is no farther than 20 kilometers from home, Ninebot MAX can become your faithful companion there and back.
Moreover, as it turned out, it is quite possible to operate an escooter in a slight minus temperature in the absence of snow. But don’t forget that in such an environment, the range decreases.
