Nissan commissioned Motoped to build a custom bike that would celebrate Nissan/Datsun racing history. It was unveiled to the public at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion alongside the legendary Datsun 510 race car this Friday Morning, the 24th of August 2018. The bike will now permanantly tour with the BRE 510.
Nissan has challenged the status quo since its inception. With each passing decade, the company has pushed boundaries and left its mark as it did with the BRE 510 in 1971-772 when Peter Brock Racing and driver John Morton won the SCAA TransAm Championship. The wins were considered a major upset in the race industry. Little Datsun from Japan a nobody and no respect at the time, shocked the world winning not one but two Championships back to back making it clear this wasn’t a fluke and that Japan and Datsun could compete. The car was affectionately named “little giant killer”!
Nissan commissioned Motoped to build a bike using the infamous BRE Datsun 510 for inspiration that would uniquely commemorate the car, driver and race heritage while staying true to Motopeds form of lightweight crossover bikes that can be pedaled, powered, tracked or trailed.
The Motoped Cruzer got featured in the Men’s Fitness Holiday Gift Guide.
Motoped was happy to sponsor and be a part of the Optima Batteries Film Festival!
